This month has flown by

October 22nd, 2008 at 06:31 pm

Seriously, I can't believe there's a little over a week left of October.

The beginning of the month is always pretty slow for us ... the middle hits me hard, and I don't have time to breath, let alone post, and then at the end of the month, I'm just shocked that it's over.

Today was a NSD. We spent the day cleaning out the car. Tomorrow I will be taking it to vacuum the car out.

We also decorated some wooden Halloween "ornaments" (I'm not sure what these things are really called.) I picked them up on sale from Michael's earlier this month, they had markers to color on them with, and glitter glue. You would have thought Juliette had died and gone to heaven when I told her she could use the glitter glue. She literally asked me about 4 times during the hour we were outside.

The poor girl still hasn't recovered from coming up on Stella's (our kitty) latest hunting adventure. I don't know if your outside cats do this, but Stella LOVES to bring us birds (or lizards, or squirrels, you get the idea) and leave them on the front porch. Well, she left poor Mr. Birdie right next to Juliette's bike ... so we had a really quick talk this morning about why Mr. Birdie didn't live. Sigh. Poor thing, and early in the morning is just too early for the facts of life talk.

Is it wrong that I wish the cat would just eat the things she catches. She just leaves them on the doorstep as a sort of offering. How wasteful, Stella.

lol... I grew up with outside cats and I never even thought of it as wasteful. Yup, I would agree it is! My cats usually didn't waste though. We had one that liked to bring things home live: flying squirrel, woodpecker, etc. My parents LOVED that...
I would love a cat that brought me lizards!! I love anoles and wish they could survive up this way.

I have been saying for the past 10-15 years that once "you" reach Halloween, it is all downhill from there and "you" are pretty much S O L. ;-)

And by this I mainly mean that within a 2 month span (October 31 thru January 1) "you" pretty much have the 4 biggest/costliest holidays.

    LOL ... I know. I'm SCREWED!

People always wonder why I start planning now ... and umm, it's the only way to do it.

Halloween - I requested off two months in advance, and my boss is still asking me to work it. We'll be at Disney, and I think it's incredibly wasteful to spend a tank of gas to drive there for the night, but I have to work the next day. Luckily, she's wearing an outfit we've had for about two years.
Thanksgiving - I work this holiday. I've never had Thanksgiving dinner with my daughter ... *fingers crossed* this will be the first. (However, it's with my dad's stepmother, who hasn't spoken to me since I had Juliette)
Christmas - I won't even think about that one yet ... aaahhh!!
Birthday - my baby is turing four. She wants a Pirate and Princess party ... lol. We've never had a birthday party before, since well, she doesn't have any "friends". I am thinking about Disney for a weekend trip or something. Her birthday is the 2nd of Jan.

So, I'm already past panic mode. I'm in the "OMG, what am I getting her for her birthday mode."
