Tired of spending money

February 5th, 2009 at 01:37 am

I have a little bit of "play" money set aside. I had been needing to buy a new computer for awhile (I cracked my laptop screen almost a year ago) but I was just doing without for the moment. I kept some money aside waiting for a deal ... and I finally came across one.

I bought the new computer last night.

Today I broke my cellphone.

UGH!

Normally, I would "do without" but now I am pulling money out of my savings because I have to have a cellphone. I don't have a landline at the house, and since I am TRYING to get a job, I have to have a phone for people to call me.

UGH!

So, I'm looking at phones, and really not wanting to sign up for a contract. Man, I'm just glad I have "play" money. It won't be "play" for long if I don't get a job ... but I don't feel safe not having a phone at home at all.

Stupid me for dropping the stupid phone.

The good news is, I have two interviews next week. One is part time, the other I have never heard of the company before. So ... fingers crossed!

I'm actually tired of spending money.

Unfortunately these things happen. I also have bad luck when it comes to cell phones and kick myself afterwards.

Good luck with your job hunting endeavors. Also Ntelos has a prepaid monthly service in which you choose your own plan and do not have a contract. It costs more than a regular plan, but the plus bieng you're binded to a contract.

My cellphone plan is awesome ...

I spend $10 a month to have a line through my parents account.

I don't think I can get anything better than that.

Do you have a local freecycle group where you can ask for a phone? This would buy you some time and you'd at least have a phone for now. I see people asking for phones all the time on my freecycle group. People upgrade and the old phones just lay around the house.

I ordered one "cheap" but had to extend my contract. I spent $106 on the phone, and my contract is for another two years. However, my parents contract is for the same two years. That's the only good thing.

Try a Tracphone - got ours at the dollar store - no contract - you buy & load the minutes as you can afford them.
